There are several guide books for the Languedoc Roussillon Region in France. There are a few books in each of our apartments, many left by previous guests. We highly recommend Rick Steves, who (thankfully) has not made a guide book on the Languedoc Roussillon region. He has chapters in some of his larger books on France devoted to Pont de Gard and Carcassonne, both destinations are between 1.5 and 2 hours away from Pézenas. If Rick Steves did write about our area, then the secret would be out - and our little secret area of France would be swarming with more tourists. What makes our area so special is that is is not overrun with tourists. Yes, July and August can be busy - but if you have ever spent time in the French Riviera in the summer, you will be thankful for smaller crowds. One in particular guide book we found is pictured in this blog entry. "Hachete Vacances" is touted as "France by the French". In a sense this is true, it does not offer up the typical tourist fare that some of the other guide books offer. We have also very much enjoyed the famous "Michelin Guide for the Languedoc Roussillon". We've included a few pages with some ideas for day-trips, history and the all important wine-information of the Region.
